Asking the tough questions - Buthayna Nasser

Buthayna Nasser is a Saudi newscaster.

Buthayna Nasser appears on television with her face - her identity - out there for all to see.

Buthayna Nasser isn't afraid to address the hard questions, to challenge the way things are in Saudi Arabia. To challenge the men in charge.

Buthayna Nasser is one helluva brave woman.

This clip is from MEMRI. In it Nasser asks, "Why is there always a male voice deciding how I should behave?"

WoW! I gotta borrow this for my blog! This woman has balls (over the proverbial kind, of course). It takes a lot to criticise one's own nation in this region. It takes even more to do it as a woman.

I posted this one on my blog last year: http://youtube.com/watch?v=EFrlQPvBmC0

There are women with voices making themselves heard in the region.

Get'em girl!

*I have only minor disagreements with a few small things but it doesn't take away from the joy I felt.

Buthayna Nasser is courageous to speak out for women's rights in such a logical and determined way. We can only hope that she doesn't suffer retaliation for her words and that someone in power may be listening. Anyway it's great to see her speaking out. Thanks for posting it!

saorla - one reason for spreading this video and the message Buthayna Nasser is delivering is to protect her - the more eyes on this courageous woman, the less likely she will be mistreated - or at least that's the hope.

Thanks for visiting and commenting and welcome to SGIME.

Thanks for the welcome Sand!

I really hope her protection through publicity is successful, as it doesn't always work. The government of Pakistan is trying to silence Mukhtar Mai even though she is well known. I really admire Nasser for what she is doing and long may she continue!
